Provincial Government

Eastern Highlands Province (EHP) in Papua New Guinea is divided into eight districts: Daulo, Goroka, Henganofi, Kainantu, Lufa, Obura-Wonenara, Okapa, and Unggai-Bena. The development status of these districts varies significantly in terms of meeting Minimum Service Standards (MSS) and economic conditions. Factors such as geographical location, access to resources, and historical development trends influence the development disparities among the districts.

Some districts have better access to basic services and more thriving economies, while others face challenges in meeting service standards and have untapped economic potential. It is crucial for EHP’s planners and policymakers to consider the specific needs and opportunities of each district to ensure more equitable development and improve overall service provision and economic conditions in the province.
